[Suggestion] Pistol Heal Perk: Recovery Syringe

Similar but different to that of the Rifle’s AoE Healing perk: Recovery Blast.

This particular healing perk allows applying single target heal and Heal-over-Time to target in contrast to the blaster rifle’s AoE heal.

Wouldn’t that eliminate the need for medpacks though? Medicine has a hard time already, even without adding another single target heal perk to a weapon line.

I like the general idea, but I think Medicine should be made more useful before considering a pistol heal.

It wouldn’t sideline medicine, like blaster rifle’s heal, the perk will have a long cooldown. Maybe not as much as a ten minute cool down, but at the same time, the active ability could be perceived as an emergency cooldown type of perk compared to medicine’s continuous use of supplies without as long a cooldown as the aforementioned perks, provided there are enough kits on the PC.

I don’t know, something just doesn’t feel right about it. I can sort of get behind rifle healing because it’s all around set up to be a support weapon, but even that seems odd. I think doing it again for pistol is just silly, they’re weapons they don’t spew healing they kill shit, and pistols are being primed to be dual weilded damage hoses I think it’s best to stick to one role for either pistol or rifle and not mix the two. Otherwise whats the point of having variation?

I’m not trying to replicate what’s on SWTOR, but if that game’s to be considered part of the Star Wars universe, plenty of “Healing from pistols, rifles, and cannons” can be seen on the Commando Troopers and Mercenary Bounty Hunters.

At the same time, pistols would make more sense than rifles on the matter, the perk name suggested “Syringe”, which is something of a physical thing being shot off. Saying that the pistols being primed suggests that some kind of kinetic projectile utilizing gunpowder is at work with the pistol here. While blaster technology should be similar to that of laser or plasma.

But then it’s Star Wars, space magics and gravity all around! What’s suggested here also differentiates with AoE healing vs Single target healing, which imo makes a big difference.

I would personally prefer to have less 5+ minute cooldowns.

I’m already playing a blaster rifle main, not sure why you necro’d this thread to begin with.

The Pistol doesn’t need more stuff. It already has the best damage, which doesn’t really make sense. That should be the rifle.

At the moment, the only thing keeping the rifle viable aside from rule of cool is its capacity as a support weapon. If you give the pistol additional support abilities (especially a heal) it will not only sideline medicine but the rifle as well. We’ll see entire parties of nothing but pistoleros outdamaging everything and healing each other.

I agree with you, and I 100% support making blaster rifles the better dps weapon simply both because it makes more sense and it fits the lore.

At the same time, keep in mind this suggestion was made over 20 days ago before the server is open as well as many of the theorycrafting and data analysis are available to the masses.

For argument’s sake, however, I’d argue that pistol’s single target heal means the PC has to target a friendly and attack in order to utilize the heal, thus wasting one round of potential damage in order to heal a friendly as opposed to the rifle’s AoE healing being able to target enemies and still continue to attack and heal if they have more than 1 APR.

At the same time, this suggestion will probably make more sense if the following threads are implemented:
