A night off

Things had been stressful since the rescue mission, she hadn’t heard from Mart though thankfully Callista and Markus had been able to update her to their status. The mission had been successful, though it came with a price, her entire left arm had been crippled and paralyzed. Surgery options were suggested openly. Removal and replaced with a cybernetic arm. Something she wasn’t ready to consider. Yes it meant the arm was entirely dead weight, but she deserved it after what she had done. At least to her own mind anyways. That didn’t matter today. Today was a day to relax after having spent some time with Callista going over her memories, she needed some kinda down time from the horrors of her memories.

Thankfully her now all but permanent roommate Markus had a great solution to that. Kick back, relax together and watch a holovid. He had to finish up something but had left the device for her to select the movie of her choice. Glancing through the selections she almost laughed at herself when she saw the “Disney” like choices and shook her head. She wasn’t into childish cartoons with damsels in distress or daddy issues. Moving on she found the Horror genre and shivered turning those away quickly. She’d had her fill of horror in real life for a while, maybe another time. Looking at the romance section she rolled her eyes, romance was for anyone “but” herself, those things never worked out and the movies were a lie. Flipping to the action movies she took a moments pause to one title and selected it. (Compare to the movie Heist) and nodded. This would do, action was always amusing and it could be fun to enjoy.

Slowly forcing herself to get up once more, a grimace of pain as she did, she moved to go make some snacks for the movie, Markus seemed to enjoy her cooking and baking, so why not. Markus was still finishing some errands and it gave her some time to make some fresh cookies, popcorn, and a few healthier options incase he wasn’t up to sweets. Setting snacks and drinks up in the Livingroom, she settled to wait for his arrival, trusting he would be back soon.

It would be inaccurate to say Markus had little downtime. Technically because of the erratic nature of his employ, it’d be more accurate to say he had nothing but downtime punctuated by his little bouts of maintenance and work.
He had, however, been subject to the frantic and tempestuous nature of life on Viscara, from random acts of murder and terror by people sworn to protect, assaults near the very heart of the sith beast and their power base on Viscara, and wade through someone’s mind and their very personal tragedies.
It had weighed on Markus, and while he’d have liked a more permanent solution, his current one was simply to try and relax and perhaps help another do so as well.
Rai had been a surprising addition to his life, another person who trusted him implicitly as was the confidence she’d put in him that he’d hopefully strive to prove worthy of.
He’d been out on his usual errands, mainly utilities and paperwork for things like repairs, checking his balances, and getting credits cashed into the bank, little things like that, before he’d made his way back to the apartment to settle in for the evening.

Upon seeing the assorted snacks he gave a small smirk and a shake of his head. Of course, she’d busy herself with cooking if left to her own devices, he’d hoped she was careful at least, cooking one-handed seemed like a fairly dangerous prospect.

Still, she seemed mostly settled in now and he gave her a bright smile and a wave as he entered the house and moved to see what she had picked.

Smiling to Markus she slid him the choice and nodded, everything already setup so he had little to worry about. Yes there was still some challenges to it, and she knew he would fret of her doing much on her own which was endearing in its own. Ensuring everything was setup she allowed him to help her over to the couch which easily seated them both, she let him set up the holovid before leaning into him to relax and watch the video, passing snacks and drinks easily.
