Amaru was born and raised on Ossus in a colony located in a caldera surrounded by forests and canyons deep within the Eocho Mountains a months travel east of the City of Knossa.
The most prominent feature of the thick forested, double canopied valley inside the caldera the tribe calls home is the enormous mesa rising up out of the center, inside the mesa is intertwined with caverns and tunnels, some man made, some natural and all give way to an enormous chamber that rises the entire height of the mesa itself.
In the center surrounded by water and plantlife is a verdant green Adegan crystal tower, hundreds of meters in height and pulsing with living force energy. This crystal tower serves as both the catalyst as well as foundation of the Kii’El peoples belief system. Not so much the crystal itself but what it represents, The Living Force. The crystal hums with Living Force energy and has been there for thousands of years.
As for the Kii’El tribe itself, they live as farmers, craftsmen, hunters and miners, they build their homes, make clothing, jewelry and weapons and equipment by hand using only what the land provides, but they aren’t above using technology when it suits them, though the only thing they seem to use any technology for is when they mine for Adegan crystals and other precious gemstones and minerals and they will use small cargo ships when they take their crafts and other things to be sold in Knossa City.
Kii’El tribe craftsman are known throughout the Adega System for their lapidary arts, outdoor survivalist gear, slugthrower rifles, knives and spears, all of which are made entirely by hand and from nothing but naturally sourced materials native to the valley they reside in (and more often then not on the very property the individual craftman lives on).
Among wilderness survival enthusiasts and rockhunters the tribe is very well known throughout the galaxy and anyone with knowledge of the subjects of wilderness survival and rock, gem and mineral collecting would have at least heard of them and may own a piece of gear or jewelry that was made by a Kii’El Craftsman.
Their spiritual beliefs are led by Shamans who follow a tradition that is somewhat similar to that practiced by the Ithorian Nature Priests.
The Living Force is strong amongst the force adepts the Kii’El tribe and they do not believe in a “light and dark side of the force” per say, they believe in the force itself and that the light and dark sides are just ways the living force “speaks to them” and tests them.
If you had to classify them in whether they are more light or dark side leaning, it would be Light due to the strong relationship the tribe has with the Jedi Service Corps.
They are also a very superstitious people, the subject of ghosts, spirits, and demons are a “matter of fact” topic to them. They believe that “dark side” force users are possessed by demons and that those demons urge, and seduce them towards the dark side.
But at the same time they also believe the Jedi Order is too rigid and strict with their ways and teachings so because of this very few of his people have ever become members of the order to become knights. There are a small few exceptions but even those individuals ended up eventually leaving the order altogether and returned to the tribe to become shamans.
Although, many of the Kii’El Rangers have in the past and continue to this day to join the ranks of the Jedi Service Corps. The Rangers are the defenders of the tribe, and they are trained from birth to be warriors and survival experts. They train in the use of polearm weapons, staves and knives. Some expand this training to include short swords and slugthrower rifles/pistols (but more often then not just rifles).
In terms of hand to hand combat the Rangers use a style that is very similar to MMA fighting. Shamans are also trained in the same manner in regards to combat, though with more of an emphasis on incorporating use of the force into the training.
