Appearance: Cat is over 6 ft. tall, with wide shoulders, long arms corded with lean, rippling muscle, and powerful thighs and calves that lend themselves to rapid sprints and acrobatic leaps. She has bright, yellow eyes and long, brown hair that she keeps tied back in a ponytail. Her facial fur has subtle, but lovely, patterns that many Cathar would find quite fetching. She dresses in a wide variety of clothing, though she always favors the colors red and black. The clothing is usually cut to show off her athletic and well-toned figure. For dangerous (or clandestine) activities, she dons a night-black Catharan Stealthsuit of armorweave mesh, with crimson accents.
Personality: Cat is talkative and friendly, but under her veneer of lively sociability is a person who is extremely wary of the intentions of others and very cautious about who she trusts. A youth spent in hiding, on the run from enemies that slaughtered her family and nearly wiped out her species, has made her so, by habit.
While Cat is not malevolent or conniving, she is a survivor and a pragmatist, and not someone likely to get involved in heroic causes, although she is willing to stick her neck out for anyone that she truly considers to be a friend. Mostly, Cat is just trying to get by in the universe, carve out a home for herself, and enjoy a little good living before she dies. She does get bored easily, and may embark on the odd adventure or caper, from time to time, just to add a little excitement to her existence. If there’s profit to be had from such ventures, so much the better.
Cat has few prejudices and is likely to give most species and individuals a fair shake, as long as they don’t give her any trouble. She is inclined to regard Mandalorians with distrust and dislike but, thanks to her adoptive father, even they may gradually win her trust (or, at least, grudging tolerance), provided they can demonstrate civilized behavior.
Talents and Skills: Cat’s very chatty, good at striking up conversations and getting people to open up to her (as many good bartenders are). She’s an accomplished mixologist, able to make most any libation from the Core Worlds to the Outer Rim. She’s lived life on the mean streets, among scoundrels and scum, and is a canny judge of character- not one to be hoodwinked easily. She also has superb skills of scavenging, hunting, and survival, thanks to her tough upbringing in the Scraplands of Ord Mantell, and was taught by her adoptive ward in how to construct weapons, armor, and various devices out of salvaged materials, and has a little first aid training, besides.
In combat, Cat relies mainly upon her species speed, strength, and natural weaponry, utilizing her teeth and claws in combat. She has also been extensively trained in Teras Kasi, and many other forms of hand-to-hand combat, as well as the use of most kinds of melee weapons. She eschews the use of hand held weapons, however (particularly blasters, which she loathes, as the Mandalorians used these to gun down her parents), as she believes openly carrying weapons incites confrontation, and she can always plead to being unarmed if questioned by the local security forces, after becoming involved in a physical altercation.
History: Cat’s story is as common as it is tragic. Raised on Cathar by loving parents, she was barely 5 years old when the Mandalorians invaded and conquered her home world, gunning down her mother and father in front of her eyes, and slaughtering most of the rest of her species.
Fortunately for Cat (Which was not her given name. Her adopted father gave it to her; It’s an abbreviation for Cathar, and Cat does not remember her birth name.), a Mandalorian soldier by the name of Cuyan Tem, horrified and outraged at the dishonorable slaughter being perpetrated by his fellow warriors, disobeyed orders and turned against his brethren to save the cub, then stole a Mandalorian starship and fled to the distant world of Ord Mantell, where he raised Cat, caring for her and teaching her how to survive in the harsh environment of the Scraplands.
They hid there, for nearly a decade, when Mandalorian hunters finally tracked them down to the crashed freighter they had taken sanctuary in. Tem told his adopted daughter to flee, saying he would draw them away long enough for Cat to escape, then the two of them would meet at a certain bolt-hole in the Scraplands. But when Cat arrived, Tem never showed, and she quickly discovered he had fought to the death to enable her escape. The Mandlorians then left, having fulfilled their mission of punishing the traitor in their ranks, and Cat was left alone to survive on her own.
Using the combat and survival skills taught to her by Cuyan, Cat survived on her own for another 5 years, wandering to a nearby city and saving up her money by selling devices made from salvaged junk, or credits won in underground fighting rings. Eventually, she grew weary of Ord Mantell, and decided to stow away on a Czerka supply ship bound for the colony world of Viscara. Here, she took her gathered savings and leased a commercial space in the ground level of a local apartment complex and opened her own Saloon, where she hopes to find success in her venture and make a new life for herself.
