Droid HK-13

APPEARANCE: Upon the forehead of this droid is etched his designation, HK-13. An odd amalgamation of droid parts, this droid appears to have been put together hastily with whatever parts could be obtained. This gives the battle droid an odd gait and unexpected movements, as the pieces don’t mesh well enough together to create fluid movements.

HISTORY: HK-13, a prototyping series for the mainstay HK series of droids. HK-13 was used as a testing bed to advance the HK series in order to try new ideas and later in its life cycle, as a practice target in testing newer models. Originally imagined as mimicking the Jedi lightsaber styles, the series was armed with dual electroblades. However, after much testing, the blades proved unruly and tended to lead to the severing of limbs, leading to the designers changing its designated weapons to vibroblades.

With the lackluster performance with electroblades, the HK-13 series was considered obsolete for its given purpose. This lead to the researchers utilizing the unit as a target test bed for newer test units. In order for this to take place, new connective apparatus were installed on the units in order to easily replace their damaged parts with any miscellaneous droid parts on hand within the lab.

After several years, the primary HK series production line was finalized, leaving the HK-13 units as relics with no purpose. The HK-13 series was designated for disposal, placed in trash compactors. The current HK-13 unit was not completely destroyed in the ensuing mass disposal, finding itself in a trash compactor with a multitude of old droid parts within the compactor. The droid reassembled itself with a random assortment of droid parts. Wanting to forego being designated for disposal once again, HK-13 stowed itself away on a shuttle off planet.

The shuttle landed on the CZ-220 station orbiting Veles, where HK-13 determined it needed to improve its engineering knowledge to better its components in order to surpass the mainstay HK series. The droid now wanders populated planets, satisfying its assassination protocols by eradicating local populace in exchange for credits. It now searches for a military faction which would satiate its status as a battle droid and aide it in its goal of surpassing the mass produced HK units in killing efficiency.
