Early Game Crafting

Crafting before leaving CZ220, if you’re going to be crafting, is very important, since most of the materials planetside have Level Increase properties. Unfortunately, it can get a bit grindy, heavily delaying your transition. There are also no plants on CZ220, making it impossible to level your medicine skill, and no cooking terminal, making it impossible to level cooking.

I would like to suggest that weak consumables are made available in each crafting discipline. Fabrication is fine - you can make power cores and smelt veldite. Here are my ideas.

Engineering:
Prototype Nanites - Restore 2 HP per tick for 5 ticks. Requires electronics. Amount or duration can be increased by using better materials.

Armorsmithing:
Shield Generator Gamma - Grants 2% concealment for 1 minute. Requires electronics. Amount or duration can be increased by using better materials. Also opens up the possibility of Shield Generator Beta and Alpha for later game crafting.

Weaponsmithing:
Prototype Cryogenic Ammunition - Applies +1 cold damage to ranged weapons for 1 minute. Causes 0.1 durability damage on use. Requires metal.
Prototype Tannic Coating - Applies +1 acid damage to vibro weapons for 1 minute. Causes 0.1 durability damage on use. Requires plant material to extract tannic acid.
Prototype Photonic Overclocker - Applies +1 electric damage to light weapons for 1 minute. Causes 0.1 durability damage. Requires electronics.

I haven’t been able to test medicine or cooking yet.

Cooking isn’t fully implemented yet, so that’s why you haven’t come across it.

I will be working on Cooking after the stress test, but if you have any ideas for it, feel free to send me a message on discord about them.

I’d say Engineering is fine as it stands, since it has refinery to give exp and the fuel cells you can craft with the first level of the blueprints.

Also, doesn’t Medicine level up from using bought medkits?

Yep! Medicine is used in crafting as well as when you use the items themselves.

I think we’re going to unlock basic blueprints for all characters and have the perks unlock the next tiers of equipment

It may be worth it to have 0 level crafting materials available for purchase outside of CZ220 since you can’t feasibly master a craft off those alone.

Would make it easier for stronger characters to start work on a craft that they might not have picked up yet without going all the way back to the asteroid.
