IN-GAME DESCRIPTION:

An elegant woman on the verge of 30, Erzsebet bears the natural poise and composure of one who was born to lead. She dresses in fine clothing, and always wears a rose boutonnière. The scent of an exotic herb and spice mix hovers in the air around her, a product of the cigarillo that is never far from her delicate fingers.

Beneath her noble mannerisms and polite speech are two hidden aspects of Erzsebet which occasionally make themselves known. The first is the sense of anemoia one can hear in her accented voice when she speaks of her homeland. The second is a hard edge, the kind of edge found in a person who has had to take drastic action in the past and is not above doing so again.

Erzsebet was born in 3985 BBY, the third daughter and fifth child overall of Lord Ferenc Kardosan. As a Tapani noblewoman, she should have been raised in the lap of luxury, with nothing she desired out of reach. If only her father had not so foolishly trusted in the promises of the High Lady Brezwalt, and followed her even as her schemes unraveled and more powerful families began to turn their coats. It was only the request for mercy by House Pelagia’s Jedi allies which spared the Kardosan family.

But mercy was not the gift the Jedi believed it would be. The Kardosans were bankrupted by economic sanctions, forced to pay tribute in soldiers and resources to the allies of House Pelagia. By the time Lady Erzsebet was born, her family was noble in name only and was on the verge of selling the planet Indras to a rival family, leaving them nothing but their holdings on Indras’ moon of Osteria and a handful of servants to maintain it.

As a child, Erzsebet was powerless to stop the deal from going through, and she often resented her father. It was his greed, his blind support of Brezwalt – and through her, Exar Kun – that had cost her the future she rightfully deserved. Bitter and anxious, she studied the tactics the other great families used to pick apart her own. While her older siblings were being married off in alliances or investing in businesses, she practiced the arts of persuasion, and trained for war. When she was old enough, she joined the Mecetti House Guard as an Ensign, first serving aboard the corvette [Clarion Call].

Over twelve years of service, she worked her way up the ranks through a combination of backstabbing, shrewd negotiation, and sheer force of will. Unfortunately, despite more than earning the promotion, she was never able to advance beyond the rank of Subcommander, a rank roughly equivalent to the Republic’s Lieutenant Commander.

In an effort to improve her standing with FleetCom and the Privy Council, Erzsebet attempted to blackmail her superior officer aboard the destroyer [Silver Spear], Commander Ishan Takahara, into recommending her for the role of Third Officer on a larger ship. Takahara was the middleman in several embezzlement schemes, and Erzsebet was confident that he would cave easily under the threat of exposure. However, she failed to realize Takahara was already under investigation, and was swept up in his arrest.

Rather than deny her involvement and risk a criminal investigation uncovering her own illicit activities, Erzsebet accepted a deal to avoid court-martial; in exchange for handing over the evidence in her possession and accepting a quiet honorable discharge, Erzsebet would not be named in the official report or charged with a crime. She had, after all, given the House Guard twelve years of exemplary service. This was, as Erzsebet saw it, the least they could do to repay her.

Gathering what few assets she possessed in her own name, as well as her meager savings, she set off to forge her own path in the war-torn Republic. It was, after all, in a war much like this one that her father had earned his own fortune. And she would not make the same mistakes he did. A backwater planet in the Mytaranor Sector called Viscara seemed a fair choice for a fresh start.
