Galaar Ara'novor

Name: Galaar Ara’novor
Born: 3977
Age: 20
Race: Iridonian
Birthplace: Moon of Dxun
Faction Affiliation: Mandalorian - Clan Ara’novor

Born a year before the Battle of Althir, Galaar was raised on the Moon of Dxun during Clan Ara’novor’s rebuilding period. He and his parents stood out among the clan and the Mando’ade as some of the few Iridonians who had been adopted. It would not be until after the assault on the Iridonian colonies that more Iridonians would join the Mando’ade or Clan Ara’novor.

With the early raids of the Mandalorian Wars starting when he was only a year old, Galaar was mostly raised by his mother and the others at the Clan compound, due to his father participating in the raids. Given the clan’s specialty being the building and maintenance of the Bes’uliik as well as weapon and armorsmithing, Galaar spent a lot of time crawling and learning to walk around the workshops of the clan, and, once old enough, worked right alongside them building and repairing gear. He enjoyed working on Bes’uliik or building modifications to further improve equipment the most. Losing himself in the work, Galaar to this day finds working in the shop relaxing and a way to clear his head.

Onced Galaar reached the age of 8, his father pulled back from the raids and started his combat training. While trained in multiple forms of combat, Galaar excelled at ranged combat, and prefers pistols as his weapon of choice. To this day, he carries two pistols and has been known to dual wield them when necessary with deadly accuracy. Galaar enjoyed this time with his father. While not strangers, the two of them hadn’t had much time to bond due to the raids and initial battles. By the time his training was complete, Galaar and his father could survey a situation, share a look, and then know what the other would do. This made them a deadly duo and was a testament to their bond.

In 3964, having completed his training, Galaar would get his first taste of the crusade during the Battle of Vanquo. Being only 13 and his clan’s focus on crafting, he was kept in the back lines, and performed maintenance and repairs on equipment as it returned. The battle had gone as planned, and later Galaar found out that it was a diversion for Mandalore’s strike at Taris. While disappointed that he wasn’t part of the main offensive, he understood the strategic importance of splitting the Republic’s attention, and knew that his contribution, no matter how small, was contributing to the total war effort.

From Vanquo, he was assigned to the Iridonia campaign. Much as before, he was mostly deployed with the repair and maintenance corp. Not that he minded, he got to work alongside his uncle, Jate’kara, and learned a lot from him during this time. Though he was mostly in the backlines, there were a few deployments that saw him near the front when efforts were made to reclaim fallen equipment or Bes’uliik. It was during these recovery efforts that he earned the respect of many Mando’ade for his skill with a blaster and ability to keep his cool under fire despite being so young.

When most of his clan was assigned to move on to Serroco, Galaar was instead part of the small group that stayed behind to help with the remaining repairs and skirmishes that were still being waged around the Iridonian colonies. He would be reunited with his clan the next year for Mandalorian Triumph. Excited to see the clan back together, it would quickly turn to sorrow as the battles leading up to and Battle of Duro saw the clan take heavy losses. Eventually the losses became too great for the Clan and they were ordered to pull out and return to Dxun to rebuild their numbers.

While doing so, the Jedi and Republic attacked the moon, and clan Ara’novor made sure they paid dearly for every inch the Republic took. With the clan’s already dwindling number, it wasn’t long before they were overrun and were forced to pull out. With so few of them left, the clan was assigned to the auxiliary forces in an effort to keep the clan from being wiped out. As such the Clan as a whole was spared from the tragedy of Malachor V.

Sadly, Malachor V would still be devastating for Galaar personally. Though the Clan was not stationed there, his parents had been called up to assist and lost their lives when the Mass Shadow Generator was activated. He took the news of their death hard drawing in on himself. Only with the help of his remaining clan and Jate’kara, Galaar would eventually work through his grief, but there are still days when he wishes he could just sit and chat with his parents again. When the dead were recovered, Galaar took the pauldrons from their armor and had Jate’kara incorporate them into his armor. This way he always had something of them with him and they could continue to protect him even in death. As the clan scattered to the stars in the years following the end of the war, Galaar stuck with his uncle and cousin as they looked for work and what was next in life for them. Hearing of possible work, the three of them boarded a shuttle and headed for the Outer Rim planet of Viscara. Would this be the break they needed or would it just be another wild bantha chase?
