ORD MANTELL CITY, ORD MANTELL
INDUCTION DAY

Even with the massive victories gained by Revan and the Republic Military, volunteers for the service are in no short supply, as this reporter can see with his own three eyes. Row upon rows of new Republic military personnel, uniforms as crisp as the mountain air here on Ord Mantell, stand in triumph. After months of hard, grueling training, these men and women and others have proven to be the best they can be, and here at induction day they are officially ready to head off to the front lines or the reserves to help preserve the Republic that is so dear to all of them.

“These inductees represent a new generation of soldiers, many of them coming of age during this conflict,” one of the local training Sergeants volunteered anonymously “You’ve got kids who lost family to the Mando’s, or even their whole world.”

Such tales are tragically common amongst the troops. The sergeant helpfully pointed me out to a young recruit, Private Jor. One of the Cathar people, Private Jor towers above many of his comrades. This reporter believes the man could a Wookie a run for their credits in height and strength.

Despite his fierce appearance, Private Jor turned out to be a pleasant young man, and quite optimistic despite his tragic past. When asked about his cause for joining the war effort, the thoughtful young man took his time in replying.

“It’s not about revenge against the Mandalorians, if that’s what you mean; that’s not what the Republic is about. It’s about making sure our way of life is preserved, so all sentients have a say in their government and everyone is treated equal, whatever species they come from. That’s the Republic I’m fighting for.”

Strong words from a strong man, as the shoulder slap the private gave this reporter caused a bruise that has still not quite healed. This declaration lead to a round of “For the Republic!” from his fellow soldiers, and I can say with surety that the Mandalorians are in for an even worse time once these sentients reach the front lines.

NEXT WEEK: We ask the armored division troopers about the new DC-15 Carbine. Does it live up to the expectations.
