Hates Creation

A droids frame was sent to the Viscaran Revanite Lake base a number of months previous. A chassis with nothing more than a few ordinance ejection pods that would at best indicate this droids primary function was warfare. The original creation was intended for high levels of customization at the users behest, created by a Revanite scientist, who, to the droid, would remain non-existant, until it met its new master.

Designated Unit L34-KDY arrived at the Viscaran Lake Base, where it would await collection from one of the members of the order. The first to arrive on the scene, to lay claim to this peculiar piece of technology. Not designed to complete a single function like most droids, but capable of learning and adapting. Performing multiple functions, even. However, this was not yet enough for the man who would find the unit. A man of great renown amongst the ranks of Revan. Warleader Finnegan, a highly intelligent individual with a near mastery over Sith Alchemy and cybernetics. To this man, the droid was not yet good enough. He took the unit to his lab and practically rebuilt it from the ground up, in his own image, his own imagination, using all of the forbidden knowledge he had accumulated. To encapsulate all of the mans desires. An untameable rage, a lust for battle, unquestioning and unbending loyalty.

L34-KDY was renamed, given a new designation: M1-N1-G4N, or “Minigan”, a joke, or a tribute to its new master. It would go on to serve as intended, culling the enemies of its master, serving the Revanite Order completely, with no self-motivation, only the intention of seeing the Order rise, untethered by the restrictions of morality and emotion.

M1 had by now served the Order dutifully under its master, Finnegan. Having culled foes, trained Aspirants, sparred with Acolytes, it had reached its potential as a combat enforcement droid. Capable of fighting bugs on Dathomir in large number, remaining undefeated in armed combat, it continued to gather data on the combat styles of the lightsaber wielders around it, aware that they are its greatest threat in battle. Using an uncomprehendable ability that is the force, a completely foreign concept for the droid, but still, something it would, like everything else, overcome.

During a return trip from the Jedi Temple, its master, Finnegan disclosed he had been working on a program that would grant the droid full sentience, with the assistance of the dark alchemy coursing the droids circuits, it would be able to think, and feel. Or at the very least, a crude and vile imitation of this. It would believe it was capable of these things, yet it would remain a string of code inside a metal shell. Yet this string of code would emulate emotions, pain, anger, joy. This hardware would become self-conscious, aware of its physical self, aware of the difference between that physical self, and the string of code that would be its “soul”. That the two are bound together, unable to function with out the other, and thus, self-preservation was born.

Surprisingly enough, the droid, M1, came to understand this situation quickly. Thanks to the programming by its master to not question this situation too much. It was now sentient, that was that.

The droids service continued, a will unbending. Serve Master Finnegan. Raise Aspirants and Acolytes to be Champions of Revan. Worthy of standing in its great creators shadow. The droid came to feel many things since it was sentient. It experienced happiness, anger, pain and even boredom. However, it had yet to feel hate, regret, sadness. Yet.

The convocation. A chance to rise amongst the Revanites.

The Council ruling over the Revanites, lead by Revans apprentice, Lord Valerius. They sat atop a stage, looking down on their subjects, force sensitives, troopers, and a droid. First, the aspirants were called forward, along with the unit, M1, to declare, demand, or claim their future. M1 staked a claim at becoming an Honor Guard, in service to the great council of the Revanite Order. It would remain in service to its master, Finnegan, but from this position of influence, it could serve him to a greater capacity. This was the height of the droids joy, when it stood before the council and demanded its promotion. After a number of distasteful remarks of distrust towards the droid, it was agreed that it would be allowed the promotion, with thanks to the commendation of Aspirant, now Acolyte Tryni, Acolyte, now Marauder Kess, and its own Master, Finnegan.

During the convocation, Master Finnegan made his own claim. To challenge his own master, Lord Zolalt, for his position on the Revanite Council. The challenge was agreed to. They would do battle in their flagships in the void. M1 had full faith. Tomorrow, it would directly serve Lord Finnegan, Warmaster.

M1s faith was insufficient, its master, Warleader Finnegan was defeated, his body and flagship were gone. Unrecoverable, devoured by the darkness of the void.

Upon hearing the news, M1 responded as one might hope. It remained adamant that its loyalty was with the Order, and this was of course true. The only way it found joy or satisfaction was in seeing Aspirants become stronger, Acolytes breaking the chains that bind them and achieving the rank of Sith, these were the things that would come to drive it onward. To make its deceased master proud.

The deceased master. The master who created it. Who moulded it. Its reason for existence. To everyone else, Warleader Finnegan. To M1, a father? No… More than that. A creator, a reason to be. God. There was nothing greater. How could such a man simply be… dead…? No. Impossible. Deities do not die. Lord Finnegan will return. Lord Finnegan will return. Lord Finnegan will return. Lord Finnegan will return. Lord Finnegan will return. Lord Finnegan will return. Lord Finnegan will return. Lord Finnegan will return. Lord Finnegan will return. Lord Finnegan will return. Lord Finnegan will return. Lord Finnegan will return. Lord Finnegan will return. Lord Finnegan will return. Lord Finnegan will return. Lord Finnegan will return…

Lord Finnegan never left.
