Sezela chose to carry on her training outside this time. After the incident with the bed she didn’t fancy having to pay out for any more repairs. She took a walk across from the enclave and lit a brazier on the sands. She watched entranced for a moment, looking at the small embers that rose into the air as the wood slowly caught fire, smoke rising like a silk sheet caught in the wind.
She had been reflecting on her last training attempt at Tutaminis, the feeling of the fire as she managed to take the energy it produced. It was always the conversion of that energy that caused her frustration. She needed to focus first on the energy itself, that she had down, even looking at the fire she could almost see the shifting energy patterns in her minds eye. But she needed to let it flow through her and into whatever form she needed the energy to manifest in.
She then had a thought, the intent needed to be a reaction… a thought passing through her mind. She knew that she was far off being able to channel the energy efficiently, but perhaps she could practice with sudden bursts of fire. She looked into the brazier again, the fire reminded her of her time with her master, often they would sit around camp fires discussing sith philosophy her questions were numerous and her masters answers intriguing. She missed that relationship… she didn’t see any of the high ranking members of the faction taking her on… no… she needed to do it herself. No one else was going to help her…
She snapped out of her reverie and took a deep breath, she planned to place her hand into the fire in quick successions. The idea was to draw the energy through her in the short moment and create… something with it. She straightened her back and with a determined nod shoved her hand into the flame.
She quickly winced in pain and brought her hand back out, too quick, she wasn’t prepared. But why wasn’t she? She should be able to draw the energy, the timing shouldn’t matter. She thought back to what was passing through her mind when she tried the first time, she was… expecting the fire to burn. She needed to manifest it as something else. She needed to train her mind to not think of it as fire but as an energy source.
With that thought she closed her eyes, trying to picture the brazier, visualise the energy ready to be transferred. Again she plunged her hand into the brazier. This time the flames licked around her hand almost hungrily. She did not feel pain immediately as she managed to draw the energy, she raised her other hand and sparks flew from her fingers. She pulled her hand out quickly again, the sparks faded…
Hmmm… now let’s try longer and see if I can make the transferrence almost immediate. She kept her outstretched hand ready, feeling a mixture of excitement and trepidation. She plunged her hand into the fire almost visualising it passing through her and out her hand. Almost immediately the sparks started again, only this time they took on an amber hue, almost mimicking the fire. There was also heat… fascinating! Again pain lanced through her hand and she pulled it out of the flames. By processing the immediate transferrence she had not only manifested an ability she had also managed to mimic the original energy sources effects… If properly mastered the applications could be numerous… Her mind whirled for a moment, then she caught a sudden glimpse at the charred material of her sleeve… dammit! These practise sessions are going to do me out of all my possessions at this rate.
Annoyance quickly subsided to a feeling of accomplishment, she was progressing… she would be stronger…
