Invicta - Ronin

Born to a middle class family on Coruscant, the first few years of Invicta’s life were happy. She had been spared the worst of the Mandalorian War, and never once considered that others in the galaxy were less well-off than she was.

But that all changed when she was diagnosed with Izali-Copral Syndrome, a degenerative disease which slowly broke down her body’s calcium, thinning her bones and blood and causing her muscles to fail. Invicta spent her adolescence and teenage years in a medical clinic, under the care of doctors and safely away from any dangers which might cause breakages or bleeding.

Yet while safe, the clinic was lonely, and most days Invicta only had holovids for company. She preferred action vids, where the heroes did all the things she could never do. Run. Climb. Kriff, even walk without leg braces. But even in such an environment, the disease took its toll. First, a minor fracture in her knees from bumping them on the edge of her bed developed into a serious blood infection, forcing the amputation of both legs at the knee. Then, the blood-flow to her brain stopped one night while she was sleeping, causing permanent neural damage. Her parents bankrupted themselves keeping her alive, and it was a miracle she survived as long as she did.

Little did they know it was no miracle. It was the Force.

Invicta wasn’t aware on a conscious level of what she was doing, but her desire to get better, to heal herself, translated into physical recovery by way of her budding powers. Until, finally, the progression of the disease stopped, and then reversed itself. By the time she felt well enough to be discharged, she was 21 years old, and her family had nothing left.

Now aware that there is something special about her, and unwilling to let her family sink even lower for her, Invicta snuck out of the medical center that had been her home for the last fifteen years, stole a power suit from a loading dock, and set out into the wider galaxy, both to regain the money her parents spent on her medical care and to become the hero she’s come to believe she’s meant to be.

She was so busy being a Ronin that she forgot to cure her Boneitis. Approved!
