Lacie Delimar: Country Sweetness

A sweet blonde teen sits and meditates in the Dantooine Jedi Enclave. Several Jedi are gathered and meditating by the outside fountain, as this is a fairly popular place among the younger students. Lacie gets up and takes a deep breath of fresh country air. Her bright blue eyes are graces by the pleasant morning light that comes.

Today, Jedi Lacie Delimar is to be assigned a Master! Such an excitement fills the girl’s heart. She has been waiting for nearly 4 years for such an opportunity, and now it has finally come time for her to meet her Master!

“Alright!!! Today is the daaaaaay!”

she suddenly calls out and slightly disturbs some of the meditating students as she runs past a few to head for the Enclave. She comes to a near screeching halt before the doorway to the room of Masters, but over hears a daunting conversation. She leans against the wall and listens…

Master 1: We have discussed this many times. We simply do not have any available Masters or Knights to accept Delimar.

Master 2: She has been waiting for nearly Five years. We do not have the luxury of time when it comes to advanced training for our older students.

Knight 1: We could use her in various corps. She may not be…super intelligent, but when it comes to medicine and Force studies, she has been rather exquisite. It would be a shame to let that settle without opportunity.

Master 1: Master Salandri already has THREE Padawans, the poor man. He did so because this war time is utterly drastic.

Master 2: We could send her to see if they are accepting in Coruscant?

Knight 1: I was just there last week, Master. They have a dozen times more students than we do and lack of Masters since the Mandalorian War AND the coming of Revan, who some have left to join after his public display!

Master 2: Then we must come to a conclusion. I vote to send her to medical corps so she may focus on medical arts, solely.

Master 1: I suggest sending her to aid in Medical relief behind the battlefronts.

Knight 1: Wait, Master. I have an idea. We can send her to gather information on some of the worlds with little known data. I have a list of some odd planets that could use some surveying. These planets have been considered not so hostile in terms of wildlife and Sith presence. This may be a fair way to have her measured and she has enough experience to be more than a Padawan at this point. These planets are also known to have some Masters lurking about. They can check in on her from time to time to see her progress. Have her gather biological information, wildlife, and so on.

Master 1: …Brilliant. She may seek continued education in the Force, life, and deliver useful information. This is a splendid idea. I will let her know on the morrow. Thank you for your insight Knight.

Lacie, missing the later half of the conversation is already back in her room, tears drying into a pillow as she sobs heavily

Next Day

The first Master from the meeting yesterday speaks aloud in the master chamber, where Lacie now stands.

“Lacie Delimar, Thank you for reporting. We have made a decision that is not to your perfect ideal, but would be beneficial to you still. We would like for you to do some important work for the Order. We decided that you will visit a list of various worlds to gather detailed information. This will include, flora, fauna, life, climate, and other life sciences as you continue your self studies in the Force. These planets have a Master or so wandering who may seek to check on you occasionally. Be sure to give them your attention and respect.”

Lacie swallows some air and asks softly

“Am I to go on my own, Master?”

“Yes. We will leave you with ample funding, clothes, food, and so on. All you must do is complete your task and return when complete. Understood?”

“Y-Yes, Master. I will do my best to accomplish this task!”

“We are counting on you, young Jedi.”

Lacie bows politely and turns to exit. When she returns to her room, her bags and various supplies are already prepared.

“I feel like they are trying to get rid of me. I feel so dreadful…”

Off a shuttle to Viscara and in the lobby of the starport

Lacie speaks with the service terminal officer.

“What do you mean they lost my luggage?! W-What am I to do? I do not know anything of this planet! Oh goodness me!”

“We apologize. You may try again in 2 days. Thank you for using our shuttle service! Have a nice day!”

“H-H-Have a nice day? W-Where do I go to find other Jedi? Is there a place to stay for the evening? Oh no, my credits were on the bag! W-Wait, um…”

“We apologize. You may try again in 2 days. Thank you for using our shuttle service! Have a nice day!”

“How can I have a nice day? It is a terrible day! Oh dear me…”

“We apologize. You may try again in 2 days. Thank you for using our shuttle service! Have a nice day!”

“I get it!” *she gives a teenish squeal and walks outside into Viscara’s colony and looks around.

“At least the weather is nice!”

A crack of thunder is quickly followed by a heavy rain.

“. . . . . . . . . I am upset.”

Several Weeks Later

Lacie comes back to the colony with some reviews on the rather hostile wildlife on Viscara. Between the Kath Hounds and Valley Beasts, she was rather exhausted. She wanders back to Mart’s house, where she has been staying thanks to his gracious offer to help her with room and board. Having a place to stay helped her a great deal.

Lacie walks into the house and is so lost in her research she crashes into Mart’s Table. Another bruise for the clumsy lady. Lacie sits on her bed and kicks off her swamp boots and looks on the datapad with a frown. She turns on a Resonate Recorder to her datapad.

“The swamps have such an extreme amount of wildlife! I don’t think I could make such a survey in one lifetime! I have taken several shots of plants, animals…that gave me time to do so and not eat me, tree variants, biomes within the areas I have explored, and how some of the natives have taken to surviving out here. People generally seem in a moderate mood, at best, due to the extreme weather patters that can vary from snow, rain, thunder, humid heats, and various heavy storms. It took me a week to stop screaming from the loud thunder in the nights.”

Lacie removes her Jedi cloak and plops back in the bed

“I wonder what people to try and socialize around this colony. It’s been kind of lonely. I miss having the other people to associate with. I tried to be nice to some of the locals, but most seem to generally distrust me. Maybe I will try visiting the local cantina! A lot of people go there, I hear.”

Lacie puts on a light fabric robe without the cloak and a fairly simple outfit. Walking through the colony was fairly uneventful, aside from some stares and an argument down the street.

It’s only a moment before she enters the cantina and sits by one of the TVs. The sound of people talking made her feel like people were around her, despite the number of people around her who seemed to keep to themselves. She orders some snacks as she sits and observes the people. It was a moment before she realized she was being observed also by two guys and a gal in the corner of the room. She smiles kindly and waves. The group looks away.

After another hour of some snacks and failed attempts to make a friend, she walks out of the cantina. She’s followed by the trio…
It was a few moments later to where Lacie found herself being push around between the three.

“P-Please, leave me alone. You’re hurting me.”

“Little lady gonna cry! Give us the goodies in your bag, girly!”
“Yeah, let us see it!”
“Give it up, blondie!”

“Please, cease such, OW!, such ruffian activity! This is not becoming of good citi–OWW, please do not pull on my hair.”

Lacie is shoved to the ground and her bag is taken. They ransack her bag for snacks, some materials she’s kept, and other minor things. Lacie launches forward and grabs her datapad from them

“Give that back girly.”
“She wants this the most, eh?”
“I want it now too!”

They kick on Lacie for some minutes before getting bored and running off with her minor goods. During the assault, she had kept her special datapad with all her gathered information held against her chest for safety as she balled up. While she certainly could have defended against these normal people, she did not feel the need to hurt them with the Force. The Force is a means to defend people, not break them… Regardless, Lacie limps back to Mart’s house to simply lay in bed.

“What did I do? I had nothing of note and they took from me without asking anyways. I surely would have helped their issues if they asked…why did they hurt me? Sometimes, I wish I was home again on Dantooine.”

Some tears fall as she clutches her datapad, the key to her future, as she hunts for various information on the planets she visits.
