Mart Webber: Failure to Succeed

Mart floats quietly in the Kolto tank, having begrudgingly gotten back into it to ensure he had no open wounds, quietly grumbling to himself as he recalls the days’ events. The mission to Kashyyyk was a success, the camp had been secured and communication reestablished. Then came the fight with Shade. Short, brutal, unforgiving. He was unsure if he would come out on top, but his training had finally paid off. He had beaten her. He had -beaten- her.
He clenches a fist as he floats in the tank, his heart rate momentarily jumping up before it settles again. He had beaten her, but then disaster struck.

His eyes flutter in the tank as he recalls the events that transpired. Republic soldiers escorting Shade. A lone Sith abomination stood before them. Then screaming an panic, an unseen Sith Lord freeing Shade. Being unable to protect Zvadras. Protect…Zvadras…
His fists clench again as his breathing and heart rate jump up again, the tank reading him as nearly in the danger zone before he finally settles once again

He should have killed her. -He should have killed her.- Why didn’t he kill her? Arrogance? Pride? Idiocy? Fear? He defeated her, and all there is to show for it is his own failures. Failure to save Zvadras. Failure to keep Atin and Adush from trying to fight each other. Failure to keep Shade in custody.
He twitches as he floats in the tank, his expression darkening behind the oxygen mask as his anger against Shade and the Sith rises, staying longer than he would wish it to before it finally passes and he slumps inside the tank

Am I at my limit? Can I become even stronger than I am? I’m just a man. A man unable to protect the people he loves.

Slowly his mind wanders away from the chaos of the day before, slipping off into unconsciousness as his wounds slowly heal
