The individual in question is a veteran of the Mandalorian Wars. They were captured a year prior to the Battle of Malachor V as a soldier of the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders and taken a prisoner of war by a squadron of commandoes led into the Mandalorian rear lines by a former Jedi aligned to the Revanchist movement. For crimes against the Republic, the individual was assigned 5 years internment in an asteroid-bound penal labour colony.

= transfer_request =
Request has been put forward by the Judiciary representative for Penal Station CN-231 pending review. The representative has requested that the prisoner be transferred to the custody of the Jedi Order due to the display of Force-related abilities. Due to numerous beauracratic errors, the individual in question was not initially categorized as an escape risk or Force-user by the Judiciary. Continued beauracratic overlap and error delayed the approval of the transfer request and the prisoner has been paroled. Re-acquisition is not considered at this time due to behavior during internment as well as humanitarian/diplomatic considerations.

The Jedi Order has been able to provide data that assisted to identify the legally registered name of the parolee. Mashia Hau’kner was a citizen of the Republic in the prelude to the Mandalorian Wars. Her legal name at the time was ‘Cell Sendt’. She was recognized positive for Force potential by the Jedi Order and custody was in process of transfer to the Temple of Eedit on Devaron. The individual was being transported back to Devaron aboard their biological fathers’ freight vessel when it was forced into planetfall by pirate ambush. Investigation at the time ruled all aboard to have died in the crash or during the ensuing firefight with boarders due to unidentifiable state of the cadavers. New evidence suggests Mandalorian interdiction and capture of the outlaw vessel, as well as rescue of the surviving crew/passengers.

= affiliate_investigation =
Investigation of the prisoner’s affiliations were successful due to receipt of a number of prisoners in the same altercation with Republic troops. She is identified to be a member of the Hau’kner (rendered as Hawker in Galactic Basic) clan of Mandalore. Captured members of the clan have been open, or brazen, about their affiliation. Clan Hawker is one of the numerous lesser clans in Mandalorian society, only rostering estimates of around three dozen members. The captured Mandalorians claim to specialize in the manufacture of Mandalorian arms and armor, as well as logistics, mercantile trade, and caravan escort. This claim is corroborated by the reports from Republic troops responsible for their capture. The report also supports claims that the Hawker Clan could be diplomatically amenable in post-war negotiations. The report and witness testimony by Republic commandoes claim that the commander of Hawker forces ordered a stand-down and cease-fire after Mandalorian victory was determined impossible during the Hawker camp raid.

Leader of the Hawker clan is also in custody at this time, identified as a Taung male of considerable age. Questioning has proved that while the Mandalorian elder has the common reverence of war for his people, his perspective is heavily influenced by a focus on cost analysis and familial duty. Excerpts of interview as follows, translated from Mando’a to Basic;

“Clan Hawker cannot afford to send warriors to their grave needlessly.”;
“Your warriors fought with honor and drove us into an impossible victory. I recognized the cost of fighting a battle where we were fated for defeat and deemed it a better investment to live.”;
“All warriors are mortal flesh, but we are immortal in our clans’ memories.”;
“It is an action of the creed to protect my clan. Tell my children they break no oaths by surrendering. Our orders are not to die. Our orders are to be victorious, and we cannot claim victory from the grave.”;
