Personnel Profile
Personnel holorecorder notes from Sergeant [REDACTED]:
a face that only has the silhouette of a human or cyborg on the holorecorder speaks casually with a deep voice
“Private Gus ain’t the sharpest hydrospanner in the toolbox, nor the brightest, but he ain’t lazy, neither. I gotta give it to the kid: you tell him to do one thing, he’ll do it until you order him to stop. He ain’t here to question orders or complain, that and he’s got a mellow view on life, makes ya wonder: what’s in that kid’s head?”
the face of a silhouette then scratches his chin
“I have to say, though, the war ain’t going easy on these kids, let alone many of them lost their families and friends as their homeworlds get sacked by them Mandalorians. Tried to talk to Private Gus after we were ordered to retreat from Ord Mantell, but he brushed it off as if it were nothing…”
a sigh comes from the silhouette, almost as if he were frowning even if the silhouette shows nothing
“Noone leaves their family and home behind as if it were nothing.”
the holoprojection fizzles out, marking the end of recording…
Excerpt from Gus’ holojournal:
Gus can be seen maintaining his blaster rifle and avoiding eye contact with the holorecorder
“This is Private Gus, journal entry twelve-dash-two: it’s the end of the war, holonews of the Mandalore’s defeat is spread all over the holonet. Guess that means it’s also the end of my service to the Republic. The sarge said I get to go home!.. Not that there’s a home waiting for me to go back to. I thought about staying, but, uhh, think I’ve had enough of this rank and file life… In the Republic, anyways.”
as Gus finishes assembling the last piece of his rifle, he proceeds to lift it and strap it behind his shoulder, alongside his duffle bag and pouches can be seen strapped around him.
“Heard word about Czerka looking for new hands to join in on their expedition in a frontier world. Reckon they could use a veteran rifleman. Think I was supposed to turn my equipment in, but… I’d say the Republic needs to take care of her soldiers, somehow.”
Gus closes in on the holorecorder, his eyes are pointed down towards something near the holoprojector. His face can be seen in full frontal view before the holoprojection is shut off. The hologram fizzles out soon after…
Administrator’s Notes:
-
“Private Gus is but one of the many of the Republic troops who have deserted their duties and positions after the war. We must remain vigilant in identifying these potential deserters… More importantly, pinpointing the reason for dereliction and better prepare a prevention method to discourage further desertion.”
-
“With the resources spread as thin as they are, we will not be able to track down each and every individual deserter. The Republic will be focusing on the recovery and rebuilding of her reclaimed worlds. The persecution of these deserters will have to come at a later date. Rest assured, it will come.”
