Quality of life (Inventory Management)

Reccomendation : Change the inventory model for metal bars and Wood as well as meat/bone to take up less space in the inventory. It fills very quickly just from collecting materials.

It’s possible to do this via the 2das but I have no idea what will happen to the graphics. We’ll need to test it and see. I’m 100% ok with this change. Inventory space is a huge problem.

If the graphics don’t work, you could also make them stackable, and just give them some actual weight.

Stacking and weight is a good option but that can be problematic with how the properties work.

Friend and I have been thinking over this possibility. The best option we can think of is that the materials come in 5 qualities, already available.

White
Green
Blue
Purple
Orange

So White Veldite stacks with White Veldite, White Kermitore with White Kermitore, etc. Upon refining the material, that is when the properties are rolled. The Raw materials’ quality and tier/type determines what potential properties can roll and in what amount. Components will not stack, but raw materials will. It also helps equalize some of the materials going this route, as Ore is currently the least PITA to deal with.

Ore (stackable) -> Bars (not)
Lumber (stackable) -> Carved Wood (not)
Fiber (stackable) -> Fiberplast (not)
Hide (stackable) -> leather (not)

It equalizes the process (Raw -> Refine -> Craft), equalizes the ratio (Gather 1 -> Refine Several -> Craft accordingly), and aids with bag space.

If I recall correctly from original NWN, we should be able to scale the graphics. If nothing else it would be easy enought to photoshop up real quick, and we could also make more color varieties in the process. I think standard assets only have silvery, and grey for ingot colors.

If you’re volunteering to change the graphics, let me know. I’ll get you hooked up with Symphony and you guys can work together to get this implemented. Message me on Discord if you are.
