Ranged Rework Proposal

I was thinking ranged combat could use a bit of flavor and veriaty added to it.
So I was thinking what if it was changed a bit.
Make the new catigories
Thrown
Pistol
Rifle
Bowcaster

Thrown weapons would obviously be thrown weapons, but I would suggest making it STR/Dex instead of Dex/STR
Pistols would cover heavy pistols and light pistols, heavy pistols would use a short bow base and keep their 2d6 damage, well light pistols would be sling base, and get 1d10, the advantage to light pistols being you can use a shield with them.
Rifles would cover repeating blasters, (Longbows) and heavy blasters (Light Crossbows) Repeaters would focus around higher apr, well heavy blasters would focus on larger single target damage…
And finaly bow casters, Bowcasters I would say should be a heavy crossbow base, meaning they are slow, but they should also use the mighty property, and take the place of the Dex/STR weapon. With the obvious downside being the much lower ROF.

At the same time, we should note that there’s also an existing dmg boost equal to 0.25 of the PC’s dex modifier for ranged atm. (or was it 0.50?)

I do like your suggestions on the distinction in between Light Blaster Pistols and Heavy Blaster Pistols, however, and we should also consider the possibilities of being able to dual-wield blaster pistols in the future, too!
