Ryuken: Sleeps with Capys

Blood seeped into his vision and the last visage he saw was the face of a grizzled bald man as he fell back. The young boy’s arms stretched out as he watched the ship’s hull close with a spark and the skies then coming into view and then blackness a few moments later….

Present time

Ryuken woke up with a gasp and scream. The three Viscaran temple Capybaras stirred awake, one orange fruit falling off Chilly’s head. The mirialan panted a moment and regained his bearings. He was the odd one that slept out in the cubby cave where the capybaras usually hung around. Ever since being a fresh new initiate, Ryuken was beginning to understand the sacrifices one has to take. The war raged on in the galaxy and the cozy farmer life was beginning to wear off. He watched his friends be cut up by sith, he himself also formed new scars day by day, he felt like his mind was starting to crack.

Ryuken stared up at the ceiling and let the waterfall behind him calm him down as the thoughts swirled. The capybaras sensing his distress nudged at both his sides and made cute little sounds. He let out a sigh and rubbed at one of capy’s ears before picking himself up on his feet then move out from the cave and coming out soaked when walking through the waterfall entrance. Chilly followed along the tired Ryuken and they came to a stop by the edge of the cliff overlooking a swampy area below. “Chilly, what am I doing?” the soft spoken mirialan said hoping to get some answer but only grunts from the critter. The half blind man sighed then sat down and dangled his legs over the edge. “It was just a nightmare, nothing to worry about.” he petted the concerned rodent who laid his head down on the man’s lap.

The ravenous nightmares had ceased for a time, but left a bad after taste in its wake. Many faces appeared and went like a memory wishing not to be forgotten. Of course he couldn’t do anything to change their Fates, it just happened, or could have things been different. Regardless it was now in the past to be buried and forgotten like a tome never wishing to be open again.

Staring up at the starry sky, the Mirialan let out a soft breath and looked down back at his datapad in his lap. He read some advance instructions on piloting as it seemed like it would be important in the future, and it’s always best to be well prepared. With the Sith growing ever more over Viscara it did leave him feeling wary to what is to come. Ever since he settle upon this swamp world sleeping had been a difficult thing to settle into.

Laying back with a heavy sigh, Ryuken petted Cooler who decided to join him in laying. The capybara giving out a yawn and rolled over to nibble on the datapad that rested on the young man’s stomach.

“You’ll keep me safe, right Cooler?” Ryuken said, patting the critter on the head. “Well I’ll keep you safe if those meanie Sith dare hurt a hair on ya.” the capybara just made a wheeking response in return.

(Viscara Jedi Arc)
Viscara was a new life and a new path. Ryuken had sold everything and bet everything on this new planet that his old master constantly told him to head and live a new life free from past burdens. Here the Mirialan met new friends indeed, an interesting Sith Lord, now that became a Jedi and rose to Knighthood, and another’s whom Fate was tied to his home planet. Ryu spent many days visiting the Enclave finding it peaceful and welcoming though equally having its own interesting tale. He met a man named Jerr who beat him at his own logic and the only thing Ryu could do was relent and accept such a position within the Order. Many years ago he wished to join the Dantooine Enclave but Master Vrook never answered his calls, his last message was an interesting lecture (and wondering how the once young boy previously got his number) how he was not fit just yet and that his old “grandpa” would need to cease seeing each other due to leaks and attachments.

His path now led him to join the Viscara Order and he was well accepted by the once Knight-Captain. Now an initiate of the Jedi, Ryu began training though he had many difficulties he would still push on despite his flaws. He trained on for a few months until the Initiate Tournament came. The Mirialan stayed up all night fretting in the capybara den and when the time came he was a nervous and tired wreck, though he tried to answer truthfully he could feel the judgemental gazes even if they were not there. The next event came up but he found himself asleep by the river under the trees.

He was not selected.

Disappointed by this the next day, Ryu still kept on his training and studying. He would not let this set him back and maybe someone else would see something in him. More months passed on by until Fate swept him under the rug again. Knight Thessel had called him - at first he was nervous and felt like he did something wrong. The air was tense around him until the Knight smiled and dispelled his fears away by accepting him as her Padawan. She apologized to him that he was not taught well and would correct that mistake. Ryuken was ecstatic to finally be chosen, but this was still the beginning of his story.
