[Suggestion] Rifles and Heavy Armor

So currently, both blaster pistol and blaster rifle require light armor to be used to their fullest. I feel like we need a heavy armor solution for blasters, though.

I’d like to ask for one of two things.

Either, can we have blaster rifles regeared towards working with heavy armor instead of light armor?

or

make blaster rifles work okay for either heavy or light armor and then create heavy repeater blaster rifles which would be geared towards working with heavy armor. This would give each armor type its own kind of blaster use, and still keep regular rifles as a kind of backup or secondary option.
Heavy repeater rifles would probably progress by increasing attacks per round at a cost of accuracy.

My solution would be to divorce weapons and armors, perks should be limited by the weapon, or the armor, not both.
But also remember this is only on the core part of the armor, aka the chest piece. So you could wear a light chest, and then heavy everything else.

Blaster rifles actually do work with heavy armor! None of their perks require you to be in light armor the way pistols do so it’s a perfectly viable playstyle that allows you to use a heavy weapon and have a LOT of con from your armor while doing so, but they will ultimately have a lower AC than light armor builds because light armor gives you dexterity as a primary stat, which also increases your dps and allows you to have higher AC. It’s a very interesting mechanic, I think. And I like it a lot!

But according to the rapid reload description, you can’t take advantage of the perk and get extra attacks unless you’re wearing light armor

Oh! That’s a really good catch! Making rapid reload divorced from armor would be a very good idea since it would leave blaster pistols and their maddeningly high DPS in the realm of light armor while still giving heavy armor builds a viable ranged option!

I can’t believe I missed that!

I agree, it doesn’t seem to make much sense. I’ve taken to carrying both light and heavy armor, because of this, and switch out, depending on the type of combat I’m engaged in; Heavy armor for melee, Light for blaster rifle.

But, then you’re training a skill tree you may not have any other use for. Pretty annoying, to be honest.

Light Armor is still useful, even if you use heavy armor.
You could use a light armor to use yellow mods to lower aggro on yourself, well you use heavy armor for BAB/AC boosts.
Also light armor primaries dex which makes it good for ranged characters.

Imo, we shouldn’t be hot swapping our armor on the fly. It’s not very realistic

Who said anything about hot swapping?
You can use light armor chest for agg reduction and rapid reload, well using heavy boots, helmet for ac, and t hen amulet and belt could be either light or heavy depending what you need from them.
Feats only care about your chest part currently.

The Heavy Armor feats don’t require the chest plate to function, as well? Cause that would require hot-swapping.

Heavy armor feats do require the heavy armor chest, but what feats do you want off heavy?

Expertise, Shield boost, Provoke, Sturdiness, etc.
