This is sort of a carry over of a discord discussion that came about after reading Mithreas excellent guide on base building! But essentially the problems I found with the current system are as follows:
Problems for attackers:
-
Any time during a 12 hour period a defender can come online, quickly remove their stronidium and put it back thus freezing the timer of the raid.
-
The longer a player base has been drilling for the more impossible it becomes to raid. This falls back on players having a stockpile of stronidium. Theoretically under the current system the player can always add more stronidium to their defense when removing it and placing it back in to reset and extend the timer.
Problems for defenders:
- Fuel harrassment (This is under the impression that fuel is still consumed even when the defenders base is powered off) Essentially this refers to the idea that an attacker can harass a defender whenever their offline by attacking their base until it’s powered off and then leave so it burns fuel without the fuel actually being converted into mines resources.
To alleviate/resolve these problems I’m offering the following suggestions as tweaks to the current system:
-
Allow scouting of a bases stronidium likely via a perk of some sort so that attackers can gauge raid times
-
Freeze fuel consumption during a raid
-
Allow defenders to freeze their reinforcement timer when they come online without touching their stronidium supply
-
When a defender freezes their reinforcement timer set them into a cooldown period before they can add more stronidium to defend with (Something like 6-12 hours) at which point an attacker can at any point get the reinforcement timer counting down again by coming online and re attacking the base
Thanks to whoever takes the time to read my suggestions on the matter.
