Sworrlawrr

A juvenille wookie leaves his abode as the sun begins to crest the canopy on Kashyyyk. He straps his bandolier across his dark brown freshly combed fur; today is the day he takes undergoes the hyrrtayyk ceremony. Instead of taking the winding stairs down to the forest floor Sworrlawrr jumps over the railing and begins to freefall. A vine rushes up to meet him and he grabs it with steady hands swinging from vine to vine as he descends.

He lands nimbly on the forest floor as a group of wookies starts to congregate around a circle of stones. In the center of the circle is a large wookie scars criss-crossing along his fur from many battles and a few narrow misses from the claws of death. Sworrlawrr enters the circle and the crowd begins to quiet.
“Who enters this circle?”, the grizzled wookie asks.
“Sworrlawrr, I would undergo the trial of hyrrtayyk”, he said with bravado.

The grizzled wookie let one leg drop back into a fighting stance and motioned for the youngster to advance. Sworrlawrr let out a wookie battlecry and quickly closed the distance. He rained blows on the grizzled wookie, but they only hit air as the combat veteran effortlessly dodged and ducked away from every clumsy strike. Sworrlawrr chanced a big overhand right and paid dearly as the grizzled wookie landed a vicious uppercut to his midesection. Sworrlawrr fell to his knees gasping for air.

“You are a disgrace to our tribe,” the Chieftain said as he stood over the gasping youngster. “I do not want to see your face until you have proven your worth. You are hearby banished from this tribe,” he said with a final huff and turned his back on Sworrlawrr.

“FATHER, please…” he said through clenched teeth as he clutched his ribs. But there would be no mercy as was the way of his people. He failed the test and he had no choice but to say goodbye to his birthplace. He hung his head in shame and started the slow climb to collect his belongings.

[Later that day]

Sworrlawrr looked out the viewport to see a small space station come into view. It was the nearest habitable planet he could reach on the small amount of credits he had saved up. With nothing but a staff and a steel resolve to prove his father wrong he entered CZ-220 jaw clenched with determination.
