Formerly a mechanic at work and a proud mom at home. Tanya was a loving wife and mother who would do anything for her family. Even during the First Battle of Onderon, the fierce matriarch kept her family safe and together. Life under Mandalorian occupation was hard, but it was when Revan’s forces reclaimed the planet that tragedy struck. Their victory-at-any-cost attitude got Tanya’s husband and children killed as bystanders caught in the crossfire and destruction. It was a cost that meant nothing to them, but took everything from her. As the war concluded Tanya Karr did not celebrate the Republic’s victory but rather filled the hole in her heart with booze from the cantina. She placed the blame of her family’s death solely on the Jedi, and her resentment grew into hatred.
She drowned her feelings and her liver for about a month, until a wanderer listened to her tale of woe then offered her some advice. He told her about the Followers of Palawa, and how their martial art of Teräs Käsi was created to counter the powers of the Jedi. Rather than waste away at bars, she could give herself purpose and find meaning in her loss. So she sought out the Followers and became an initiate in their art. She went from being a grieving widow, to a respectable warrior. Along the way, the Followers’ teachings of philosophy and spirituality helped bring her heart and soul into balance. After a year of studying she noticed a few strands of her blonde hair turn grey. After working through a mid-life crisis, she decided to leave as an initiate and follow her new motivation: never let the Jedi hurt another family again.
Although she has found a degree of peace and balance, hatred and anger remain buried within her. Now the Jedi that ripped her world away from her have become the Sith. Though her anger is redirected to them, she still harbors resentment for the Jedi order for failing to keep them in check. However she is at least wise enough to understand she is not yet ready to challenge any of them directly.
