Specializations, Training, and So Forth for Jedi/Sith

The problem is you can’t remove DM involvement entirely from the equation in my opnion. They would still be needed for the eventual progression from knight to master anyway and I’d definitely keep them involved in the knight trials.

The problem is that without DM involvement in the knight trial, there’s no chance of actually failing it.

Oh yeah no I mean the DMs are there to help steward this stuff and keep the overall minicampaigns on track. No arguments there.

Not everyone becomes a master even, the process should not be automated at all, or even required.

I still believe that even if it is done by pcs, it should all be done with rp not with mechanics.

We do not need mechanics to allow people to train each other that are so complex, really we shouldn’t need them at all.

What benefit does this actual give players at the end of the day?

I see no reason to make this system, and at the end of the day it will just shoe horn people into needing to be Jedi if they want to be one of the archtypes and I don’t think that is good.

A reminder that our Devs are entitled to work on whatever they wish, if you don’t like it? Learn to code and be a dev and do your own thing and back off the devs. Thank you Terallis for actually even being willing to work on this.

Sorry, I am going to try harder not to let my seething irritation at player faction politics (and any other politics kind of, now that I think about it!) bleed through so much.
Not mad at the devs either btw; Just started learning computer science and holy crud all the things that go into making a multiplayer game and campaign module go are complicated under the hood.

I think that a see who’s online variant widget for players whose characters are force trainers and the DMs playing Jedi and Sith Master NPCs might be kind of fun.

Then again so could a dark side and light side alignment points bar but part of the beauty of this server is the not relying on traditional dnd 9 pt alignment.

We actually do have a planned light/dark association. It’s not gonna be like D&D alignments, though. Think like how it actually is in KotOR, because dark and light pull is a legitimate thing in the Star Wars universe.

That would be neat and also help get rid of some of the headachy arguing ambiguity between people about whether a character is good or evil by providing an objective, standardized way of measuring it… plus DMs could award Dark and Light Side points as a reward for when they see a player role play out something especially good or bad… kinda like those RP tokens from before! :stuck_out_tongue:

I mean, that arguing may still exist, IC, tbh. This is more a gauge of their pull to light or dark. People can’t directly see that, after all. Not without a Force ability that isn’t yet implemented. So, IC, stuff won’t really change from a general perception point. Nor would it necessarily apply as something like “I’m super dark so I should be a Sith.” or vice versa. But a way for that at least to be measured for the use of sensing it through the Force, as well as possibly other mechanical functions like enhancing certain powers, or preventing the use of others. General ideas, at least.

However, that said, lets get back onto this particular topic, as it’s falling off it again. Haha!

Oh yeah no lol. Obv the HUD bar is just a little note for the player and DM and not meant to be IC. Haha.
